I have worked as a freelance UX designer and design strategist for
10 years, collaborating with many different clients and organisations. This is a showcase of a few my favourite projects I've worked on.
Paving the way for a culture without sexual intimidation and sexual violence (2023)
with Snijboon for Regeringscommisaris Seksueel Grensoverschrijdend Gedrag en Seksueel Geweld
Mariëtte Hamer represents world's first governmental organisation battling sexual harassment and violence. Together with her and her awesome team, we facilitated sessions, using Design Thinking-methods among others, where we had conversations with law-makers, psychiatrists, legal experts, victims, accused and many more, to understand the width and breadth of the challenges we're facing. The result of our work is a prototype of a handbook for organisations as a first helping hand when a case occurs.

Designing the future of Dutch visa applications (2022)
with Worth Internet Systems for Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The process of applying for a visa for entering The Netherlands or another country can be very complicated. During this project, I worked on designing a user flow for both applicants as well as employees of organisations that can give out visas, that focused on understandability for people of every country, culture, (visual) disability and linguistic proficiency​, ending up with an incredibly complex flow where understanding laws and legal affairs played just as important a role as usability testing and perfecting the user experience.

Creating digital liberty around the world for the LHBTI+ community (2021)
with Worth Internet Systems for COC Nederland
As the oldest organisation in the world fighting for LHBTI+ rights, COC has been facing the challenge of helping people around the world feel safe and connected. To bring this to a new level, we worked on the basis of a digital platform where people from communities around the world could safely and anonymously meet, share initiatives and collaborate on projects. We started off with a remote Design Sprint, bringing together people from the U.S., Pakistan, Sudan and India, among other places, facing challenges like bad internet connection, language barriers and most of all personal safety, but creating a beautiful start of the project together at the end of the day.

NU.nl is the most popular news website in The Netherlands, but the only way to stay successful is to look ahead. Together with NU.nl we designed a new take on the Design Sprint: a Business Model Sprint, in which we approached the way NU.nl could stay profitable in the far future, while keeping true to their strong values. The sprint resulted in solid ideas, some of which we translated into user-testable concepts. A version of one of these concepts we worked on, NU+, was launched by NU.nl last year. For this project we worked with both the editor-in-chief​, director of business and designers from NU.nl, as well as a group of experts on business and journalism.

Tribute to Bill Withers
​
The Tribute to Bill Withers is a tribute in the most classic sense of the word. We share an enormous respect for Bill Withers and for all of us he's been an inspiration both in playing live and writing songs.
​
Our goal with the Tribute to Bill Withers band is to keep his music alive, but also to introduce people with his less famous songs, released on albums that weren't full of radio hits, but had these intricate little songs full of beautiful meaning and interesting grooves.
​

Curtis Foster Family Band​
​
The Curtis Foster Family Band is a funky 10-piece disco jazz group formed by jazz guitarist Linus Eppinger- alter ego Curtis Foster. What started as a one-off solo project with the video 'Sporty People' grew a gimmick into a full-fledged live band that has been winning hearts and shaking butts since last spring!
​
Curtis and flautist U. L. Ghezzi join forces with Paula Go-Mess, Bobby Carbonara, Marta Martini, Jelly Noordveld, Johnny Boner, Joris Wham, Panic Sickinghe and Saïd Boom. So, if you want a piece of the cake; KEEP IT SPORTY!

Jazz Music​
​
As a jazz singer, I'm playing with various bands at different venues. From more background-music gigs at the Amsterdam Hilton and Soho House to concerts at music cafés in Amsterdam and Haarlem, I've shared the stage with musicians like Linus Eppinger, Gideon Tazelaar and Jan Akkerman.
​
In August 2023 I am opening the Haarlem Jazz & More festival with a jazz trio and some of my favourite young Haarlem jazz cats.
​
Every 3rd monday of the month I organise a jam session at Stiel's in Haarlem.
​

Haarlem Jazz Underground​
​
Since 2018, I've been organising the only live jazz concert night and jam session in the city centre of Haarlem in the cellar of The Wolfhound - Irish Bar & Kitchen, every 3rd thursday of the month.
​
Musicians that have played there are Jesse van Ruller, Philip Harper, Simon Rigter, Ian Cleaver, Gideon Tazelaar, SMANDEM., Gijs Idema, Frans van den Hoeven, Ken Fowser, Diana Dzhabbar, and many many more.

natural wine
Since 2018, I've been active in the natural wine field, as a sommelier, reseller and organiser of pop-ups. I'd love to help creating your (first) natural wine list or organise (private) tastings to introduce the world of natural wines.
bar le vaccin
I started the Bar Le Vaccin project in early 2021 as a way to cope with the pandemic and to share my enthusiasm for natural wine with others. Since then, Bar Le Vaccin has grown to organising private tastings, wine classes, pop-ups (for corporate events or public) and helping out starting restaurant businesses with their natural wine lists or the natural wine part of their regular wine lists.

Piccolo Forno Vinz
The collaboration between Piccolo Forno and me was something long in the making, already collaborating during several pop-ups in 2022. Since the opening of Piccolo Forno as a full fledged restaurant in May of 2023, serving the best Neapolitan pizza in The Netherlands, I've been responsible for the wine selection, keeping the list up to date, and stocking the cellar with some special bottles. We will start organising natural wine parties after summer as well.
